Fingers crossed for new Federal solar power subsidy this week
Solar power systems once again look like being affordable for many Australian households.
The Federal Government has relented and detached the Renewable Energy Target (RET) legislation from the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS). The RET bill, which carries with it the new Federal Government solar power subsidies, looks like it will be passed separately this week (week beginning 17 August) in Parliament.
The new Solar Credits will not be as attractive as the $8000 rebate that ended prematurely in early June, however they will still provide a substantial subsidy.
According to the Clean Energy Council, the RET plus energy efficiency measures will provide $28 billion worth of new investment and 28,000 new clean jobs over the next decade.
